Movie-going: for dummies

So I know I haven't posted on here in a while but there has been something that I have been wanting to post for quite some time now.
It is about proper movie etiquette.
I don't feel like I go to a lot of movies nowadays but when I do I really notice every little thing that drives me crazy.
It not that hard to be a normal person in a theater. But for some reason some people struggle with it.
Here are a few of my biggest pet peeves. If you do any of these, stop. ;)

1) The kicking of the back of the chair. Ugh, the worst. I mean in all the theaters in this day an age there is an ample amount of room to not have to kick someones chair over and over. If you are Kevin Durant size then I understand. And for the record Kevin Durant, you can kick my chair as much as you want. But seriously I will give each person a one time freebie but that's it. And its always the little 5 foot 3 chicks doing it. How do you not have enough leg room?! Ugh!

2) The people who wanna have a conversation the whole time. Why pay at least 9 bucks a piece to go see a movie and then just talk the whole time? You could have stayed home and saved the money. And if you are with someone who can't sit through a movie and not ask you a million questions about what is going on, then don't ever go to the movies with them again. Or break up with them. Whichever.

3) The screaming baby. Listen people, I understand its hard to get babysitters and they are expensive and all that. I get that. So you wanna bring your baby in a movie and try it out. That's cool with me. But you don't get to just let the baby cry the whole time. You get a minute or so and then you gotta go out in the hall. I mean you gave it a good shot, be proud of yourself. Better luck next time.
not trying to be mean but come on.

4) The people who actually answer the phone. I can't believe people actually do it but they do. how about a text message if its that big of a deal. Or if its an emergency go out in the hall. And when you answer the phone and try to sound like you are whispering you still just sound like someone on the phone in the theater.

5) Last but not least, the worst of all, the people who come to a movie LATE rolling 4 people deep who want you to get out of your seat that you have had for 15 minutes before the movie even started and SCOOT DOWN a seat so they can all sit together. Um, no. how about this... You can go sit your happy butts in the front row or you can be on time for a movie and get whatever seat you want like we did.

Sorry to sound rude but seriously people. Get it together! Its the main reason why I don't even go to movies on weekends or weekend premieres because people ruin them!

-I promise a more pleasant post next time. Happy movie going!

New Year, New You!

Well here it is...the big 2012! Crazy how fast time passes because I swear it was just NYE for 2011. So much can happen in a year it's like you can blink and it's over.
With a new year all of us usually come up with a New Years Resolution. I would think it is safe to say that most people do not keep them. I know I have yet to keep one but it is still fun to try and better yourself and set one. You never know you might keep one just once! So I have a list of things that aren't necessarily resolutions but just things about myself that I want to change or make better. But first, here are some EASY things that everyone can change to make themselves all around nicer. These are things that are mostly my pet peeves and I can't stand when people do them. So if you do, pick one and make it your resolution.

1. When people don't hold the door open for you. I mean I can be directly behind someone and they just let the door slam in my face. It's one thing if you don't know someone is behind you but even then I always look. It's simple. Just look and hold it open. Thanks.

2. When people treat servers bad. I just hate when people are rude to them or tip them badly. If you get bad service it is one thing but to just all around be rude to them is uncalled for. ladies...if you are on a date with a guy and he treats a waiter/waitress badly and/or tips bad then don't go on a date with him ever again.

3. When people drive slow in the fast lane. This one needs no explanation.

4. When you are talking to someone and they are texting. Now, I am sooooo guilty of this one and I want to change it. I am so bad at this one. Someone is telling me a story and I am nodding and saying yeah but I am texting away. I hate when people do it to me but yet I do it. HYPOCRITE I am! I will change this!

5. When people are pessimistic all the time. Like just be grateful! There are so many things to thank God for that its unbelievable how many people are always unsatisfied. I find myself always wanting more but I am healthy, my family is healthy, me and kory are happy and have a house and good jobs, I have great friends and family and am blessed in so many ways. I know its hard to keep things like that in mind sometimes but really there are just so many things to be thankful for that we shouldn't dwell on petty things we think we need.

6. When you go out of your way to let someone in their car go in front of you and they don't give you the friendly wave. I want that friendly wave! I didn't have to let you over when you waited until the LAST possible second to merge when all of us have been waiting forever! Give me that friendly wave dangit!

7.When people simply just don't say thank you. If someone does something for you, its just common courtesy.

8. Last but not least, when people are crappy parents. GET IT TOGETHER! Grow up, find Jesus, get help, whatever you need to do to get it right. I swear all the deadbeat parents stress me out. How can you be so selfish? If you don't wanna give them the love they deserve then call me. I will.

Now.....onto a few things I wanna do for myself.

1. Give more and volunteer more. It's so easy to contribute something to people in need. You don't have to have money even. You can volunteer with Regional Food Bank, City Rescue Mission, etc. BUT I don't do it. So it is my goal to start doing it. I already donate to Allys House which is an organization that helps pay children's medical bills that have cancer and the families can't afford treatment. But I want to volunteer for them and help them more. Every little bit counts and I am gonna do it! you can to!

2. Be better with money. In general I need to save more, pay off stuff, and invest. Even though I feel like we are doing good I know I can do better. I still blow a lot of money and need to get it all in control. I need to learn the art of discipline and if I say I am going to save a certain amount of dollars, I actually do it!

3. Spend more time with my family. I get so wrapped up in what me and Kory are doing or what my friends are doing that sometimes my family gets put on the back burner. I need to start making them a priority as well.

4. Find a church and get involved in it. We went to Peoples Church for a long time and I love it. Honestly I have nothing but good things to say about Peoples church. But it got a little big and we moved and things just kinda fell through with it. We tried Victory in Edmond a few weeks ago and we really liked it. So we need to go back. I want us to find a church home that we can get grounded in and become a part of.

5. Take better care of myself. Work out, eat healthy, take vitamins, get lots of sleep. The whole works! I fail at all of these things. These are the things that you need in the long run and I need to do a better job taking care of all of it! You never want to compromise your health!

That's really all I have right now but I am sure I can think of more. 2012 is gonna be a good year. I can feel it. 2011 was pretty dang good but this year is gonna be better! the best is yet to come! Also..pretty sure it's our year for thunder!

THUNDER UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I hope everyone had a GREAT holiday!!!!!!! xoxo

long time no see!

So after about a two month hiatus, I am back. Just in time for the holidays. Hope everyone has awesome Christmas parties to attend. and yes, that's right CHRISTMAS parties. I am not going to say "holiday' parties. I don't care if it isn't politically correct. It is correct to me and that's all that matters. I have already attended two Christmas parties and had an absolute blast at both. I have one more it is going to be a lot of fun. 10 girlfriends of mine are all getting a limo and going to eat and look at lights. Super excited!
I also have not finished my Christmas shopping and this makes me sad. I hate the mall around this time. It gives me anxiety.
On another note, I recently spent this past weekend with my long lost friend Sabrina. She lives in San Antonio so me and Natasha met her in Dallas. It was so great to catch up. It's weird how it never seems like time had passed when we get together. We got on the subject of jobs, careers, money, etc. We started talking about Dave Ramsey and other budgeting things and I told them how me and Kory do our money. Which is actually like how Dave Ramsey does it but we just don't use ALL cash. Which Dave does. So I tell them that me and Kory put all our money together and we pay our mortgage, bills, gas, and all that. And we both get paid twice a month, (sometimes three) basically every two weeks. And every paycheck we each take out 150 dollars for entertainment. That's it. So for a month he gets 300 and I get 300. Which does seem like a lot, EXCEPT...that is to cover all fast food, eating out, basically anything besides groceries, drinking, clothes, etc! Basically everything you buy that isn't a bill, medicine, shampoo, all that stuff is entertainment. Need a bottle of wine? Comes out of entertainment. Starbucks run? Entertainment. New jacket? you get the gist... So needless to say, it is pretty hard. But the flipside of that is you save a TON of money. If you limit your spending it's amazing what you can save or pay debt off with.I would say me and Kory make good money. I mean, we do. But we were constantly never having anything to show for it. We would spend until we were out. In just ONE month we saved enough for a 54'' inch flat screen and a brand new Xbox. In just one month! We also take whatever is left from our checking when we get paid and automatically put it into savings. If I have 200 and I get paid the next day that 200 is going into savings. Now, Kory has to keep me in check with all this stuff. I haven't always been the best with money. But it works. And I want you all to know that you don't have to make a lot to be able to save money! You just have to limit yourself. And definitely pay off debt. All the extra money you put away could be one less loan you have to pay every month. Or one less car payment. Give it a whirl and try it out! If you think 150 every two weeks is too low than try 250. Try whatever sounds good. I promise it will help you be more aware of the 7 dollar drink you just bought at starbucks.

Now I am not in any way saying we are money experts. Because we aren't. But we did take the Dave Ramsey financial peace class and it really did help. I recommend it to anyone!

Happy holidays! :) get that Christmas shopping done! (not on credit cards!) hehe

Kick the bucket

I was chatting with my Nana last week about random stuff and we got on the subject of bucket lists. I asked her if she ever made a bucket list and she said that she did everything on her bucket list she wanted except one thing, learning to play the piano. I told her it wasn't too late to learn but she just kind of laughed it off. Which it got me thinking about my bucket list. Which I have never actually fully thought about and written down. So today. I have decided to do so. Now some things on my bucket list I have already done. So I guess I will start with the things I have checked off my mental bucket list I had.

1) having the full college experience: me and my bff Natasha moved into the dorms right out of HS and did the whole college thing. The partying, the living on campus, the sporting events,  everything. And we even managed to survive and still come out with degrees. Awesome, right?
2) dressing up to a movie premiere: dorky I know, but when everyone dressed up for Star wars, pirates of the Caribbean and all that I always said I wanted to dress up crazy for a midnight showing. So I did for Harry Potter. It was awesome. Glad I did it!
3) bachelorette party in Vegas: it didn't have to be mine necessarily I just wanted to go for one. But just so happened to be mine. It was a total blast. I'm sure we will go again for someone else's bachelorette!
4) white water rafting: really this isn't that big of a deal to most people so probably wouldn't be on most peoples bucket lists, but I am terrified of water sports and activities. I am not a strong swimmer on top of that. So needless to say it was quite terrifying. But fun at the same time. Doubt I will do it again so just glad to say that I did it.

Now that's all I can think of that I can cross off. So here are the ones that I must do before I did.
WARNING: most are crazy random.

1) be a crazy dressed up NFL fan: I'm not that huge of a football fan. But I have this obsession with dressing like a crazy Oakland raiders fan and going nuts in the stands. I want the whole nine yards like the gear and face paint and weapons and everything. It will be wicked.
2) make it rain: like with money. Not actual rain. This doesn't necessarily mean I have to be super rich where I can make it rain in the clubs with Benjamin's. I just want like maybe 100 ones or something dumb and just walk up in some place and act crazy and make it rain. Just seems so awesome.
3) punch someone in the face: I know I have said this before and I know its just so dumb. But I need that feeling to know what its like. To just punch someone that you really just want to shut the heck up.
4) cruise to Italy, Rome, etc: its pretty expensive but I know it will be worth it. One day I have to see Germany, Italy, etc. Just have to. To lump all trips into one I also must see Hawaii and go to Disneyworld. Those two are musts as well.
5) dreamhouse: which doesn't have to be a mansion by any means, just a brand new nice house that has everything that I want. A house that no one else has lived in and made bad wall paint choices that you have to change when you move in!
6) ride a hot air balloon: this has been a dream of mine for a long time like since I was a kid. I will definitely make this happen. I just have to.
7) do the what happens in Vegas thing : for those of you who don't know what I'm talking bout, I'm talking about when her friend Tipper and that other guy go knock on Cameron Diazs ex and when he opens the door she just punches him in the balls. He looks up and says why? And they just say you know why!!!   Ah. I know a few people who deserve that.
8) run a half Marathon: which is happening in December! As hard as training is I know it will be such a great feeling. Now a full Marathon.  No thanks. I don't want to kick the bucket while trying to complete my bucket list.

That's all for now. I really have more. So maybe I will add more later. Have to go back to work. BARF.
Which I guess the last thing on my bucket list will be to have a job I love!

Laters y'all! Have a good Halloween. Me and Kory are going as Wayne and Garth from Wayne's world. I'm being Garth.

Schwing!!

why can't it always be the weekend?

This weekend was Race for the Cure. Which is a lot of fun! I used to go with cross country in high school a lot then went last year so had to go this time too! Our time was 29 minutes for a 5k which is really good time for us, so we were happy. Next stop, the Dallas White Rock Half Marathon in December. Which Natasha, Nicole, and I are SUPER excited about. Mostly excited about the cute little 13.1 sticker to put on my car. Which I will probably save for a better car since I don't want to put it on my falling apart Honda.

Also, it was my grandpas birthday. 85 years old! We celebrated him and his sisters birthday, which she is 88. It was good to get the family together, even if my mom does make us all take a million pictures.

Those were the only two huge events from this weekend and it still went by at super speed. It is completely impossible to make the weekend last. I don't even mind my job but I still mind the work week. I also mind waking up at 5:30, it really sucks. I still haven't gotten used to it. I need to find someway to make my current yearly salary without having to work. Impossible? Yes, unless I wanna do something illegal. Or unless I can get lucky and sell some brilliant idea. Which doesn't seem likely. Oh well.

Few exciting things:
* I am getting my eyes done in Nov. Finally. It's a very expensive form of LASIK and I can not wait to get it done!
* The Mexico group is planning a ski trip for January or Feb. Super excited. Kory has never skiied and I know he will love it.
* Sabrina and Karis are coming in Dec. and we are planning a Christmas party. Should be about 8 of us girls and I am pretty excited to party plan. Even though there is a chance Sabrina might come earlier than Dec! Hoping she does at least!

that's all folks. boring. sorry. I got on here all motivated for something inspiring and then got tired. Also, I successfully screwed up a recipe from Pinterest. Awesome.

And not spell checking this either!

Stay classy okc.

Uber cray cray

for no reason at all here is a list of things that lately I have thought are strange.

1. That everytime I see a nice little anti-bacterial soap dispenser it's always empty. I'm a huge Purell fan I get let down everytime. The YMCAs is always empty. The one at Hobby Lobby yesterday was empty too. and they always have this cute little message like "we care, sanitize your hands".  Care my butt!

2. That we are a country struggling with obesity but Taco Bell promotes 4th meal. Which I understand they are trying to make money so they don't care. But still shocks me we are acting like a 4th meal is a good thing! Some people def don't need that 4th meal chalupa.

3. The cupcake craze. Don't get me wrong. I sure love a good cupcake. Just weird that in the past year or two gourmet cupcake places have spread like rapid fire. I mean cupcakes have been around forever and all of a sudden there's a new twist to the cupcake and there are cupcake places everywhere you turn. Gigis, Sara Sara, pinkitzel, cupcake queen, etc. Sure do love cupcakes though.

4. That you can actually make a living off blogs. I know I wont be one of those people. But it's cool that you can be interesting enough to get ads and get paid for your internet thoughts and ideas. Thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com is a good one. She gets paid! Lucky girl. Just crazy to me people can have that as their job!

5. That we are still in this NBA lockout. It literally blows my mind that the owners and players that make millions and millions are fighting over more millions and millions. Forget all the money the NBA franchise will lose by cutting a season or all the people that work at the staples arena or cheasapeake arena that you are putting out of work. From what I understand the players get 57% of all revenue and owners want them to only get 43% so why not just do 50/50 and call it day. Thanks. THUNDER up!

6. That everything causes cancer. Literally everything. Just the other day on the news they said how multivitamins can be causing cancer. great! Now we got things that are supposed to be good for you killing us off. What's the world coming to?!

7. That with as much technology as we have and as much money as Cox has we still can only DVR two shows at the same time. And when they two are dvring (that a word?) You can't watch anything else. This drives me nuts. We don't even record that many shows but for some reason our Wednesday night TV is packed. So if you do happen to be home you have to watch one of the shows that's recording. lame! At&t is better but we can't get it in our area. Sad day.

8. That college freshman now look like kids. Its weird when you hit that age that you look at an 18 year old and they just look like a little baby. That's when you know you're old. 18-23 year olds might as well be 12 year olds. And I feel like I was just 21! What happened. *sigh* time flies.

9. That people are still doing door to door sales. I'm not knocking people who do it. Can't knock the hustle. Just weird to me it still goes on in this day and age. We have had people try and sell us magazine subscriptions, carpet cleaning, and vacuums. We didn't buy any, but I did donate to my neighbors kid for her dance team. So she was a good salesman I suppose!

And that's all I got! Can't believe today is Wednesday. Having Monday off for the holiday was awesome. Also me and Natasha tore up hobby lobby and their 50% off sale yesterday and decorated me and korys dining room. Now need to start conquering the living room.

Everyone have a great Wednesday!

I'm on the pursuit of happiness

Lately I have been trying really hard to not be negative. Granted it doesn't always work out like I want, but either way I have REALLY been trying. I feel like it has gotten better because all I have seemed to notice lately is how negative everyone else is. I'm not saying I am perfect now and always optimistic, just saying that it's crazy how many times throughout a day we are all ungrateful about something or just mad in general. It also surprises me how the weirdest things that don't matter at all can ruin a persons day. The FB statuses and blogs that people post about things that are actually pissing them off blows my mind. Seriously, if the running trend makes you mad you need help. How can people running actually make you mad? I don't like yoga but I couldn't care less if the whole world started doing yoga everyday. Take a deep breath people, it's not a big deal what everyone else is doing. You don't have to do it!
Also, the work situation. Don't get me wrong. We have ALL complained about work at some point in our life. It's not human to be completely happy with every aspect of your job every single minute of every work day. But it drives me crazy when people who are terrible workers sit around and think they deserve something. It is always the employees who don't help a single person out or even finish their own work that get mad when someone else gets a promotion. They always think they deserve it even though they actually haven't even been on time in a year. Put more pride in your job. I know I haven't always but I am really trying because we are ALL grateful to even have jobs. Especially good paying ones with benefits, sick and vacation leave, and normal work schedules. There are so many people that deserve a good job so if you think America owes you something and you hate the government so much, then please stop working for the government because you are driving me crazy. Thanks. I know it's hard to come into work sometimes and be in a good mood. Believe me. But I promise if you give it a positive outlook and just put a smile on your face it will be much better!
:-)
Everyone have a great Columbus Day! I know I will because we have it off for work!
